CTV and Bravo! Bring Christopher Plummer in Stratford's Caesar and Cleopatra to the Small Screen
- National audiences can now witness this summer's Stratford Festival hit directed by Tony Award®-winner Des McAnuff - Toronto, ON (November 3, 2008) - CTV and Bravo! announced today that it will bring Christopher Plummer's acclaimed performance in this year's Stratford Festival hit Caesar and Cleopatra to television viewers across the country next year. Produced in association with Melbar Entertainment Group, the two-hour special was shot last week in High Definition before a live audience in Stratford, Ontario. Executive produced by Michael Levine, Barry Avrich and Christopher Plummer, and directed by Shelagh O'Brien, the multi-camera production captures all the drama, intrigue and comedy of George Bernard Shaw's renowned play. Starring legendary actor Christopher Plummer along with Nikki M. James, and directed by Stratford's Artistic Director and Tony Award®-winner Des McAnuff, Caesar and Cleopatra is a witty and seductive comedy about the relationship between a veteran Roman political strategist and an enchanting Egyptian teenage queen. Stratford's production was hailed by The New York Times as "the climactic event in the company's impressive current season." The two-hour television version of CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA will air on Bravo! in 2009 following a nation-wide premiere in cinemas across Canada.
