Program Alert - August 26, 2008

-- Home of the hits: Canada's top series return to Canada's #1 network -

-- Big-buzz series Fringe gets super-simulcast on CTV and 'A' --

Summer's favourite television hit says goodbye as Fall's most-anticipated new series begins when CTV's new television season debuts the week of September 8. CTV announced today premiere dates for the Fall 2008 season, including the greatly-anticipated series premiere of So You Think You Can Dance Canada on Sept. 11, just one day after Canadian Idol's season finale crowns the next Idol champion on Sept. 10. Before that, new big-buzz 'A' series Fringe gets a one-time, super-simulcast with 'A' on Sept. 9 while Mariah Carey and John Legend appear on Canadian Idol's final performance episode Sept. 8.

It's the kick-off to a Fall season that will see the return of Canada's most-watched television series to Canada's #1 network. CTV's powerhouse line-up features the return of Dancing With the Stars (Sept. 22), CSI: Miami (Sept. 22), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Sept. 23), Criminal Minds (Sept. 24), CSI: NY (Sept. 24), Canada's #1 drama Grey's Anatomy (Sept. 25), The Amazing Race (Sept. 28), Desperate Housewives (Sept. 28), CSI with newly cast lead Laurence Fishburne (Oct. 9), Degrassi: The Next Generation and the final seasons of Corner Gas (Oct. 6), and ER (Sept. 25). All of these series boosted CTV to another break-out year last season, as CTV remained Canada's #1 network for the seventh consecutive year, with 18 of the Top 20 programs among total viewers.
