CTV's Giant Night: Super Bowl XLII Most-Watched Ever in Canada with 5.07 Million Viewers

Super Bowl XLII attracted a record audience for the Super Bowl in Canada on CTV and RDS, preliminary overnight figures from BBM Nielsen Media Research confirms today*. A combined audience of 5.07 million viewers on CTV and RDS surpassed the previous record of 4.98 million in 2006 on Global (4.281 million) / RDS (702,000).

CTV announced today the addition of new comedy series, Welcome to the Captain to its winter schedule, premiering Monday, Feb 4. at 8:30 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Nip/Tuck Slices into CTV's Primetime Schedule, Feb. 3

Double breast implants, a nude photo shoot and roles in a Hollywood medical drama...Nip/Tuck returns to CTV, more outrageous than ever, immediately following Super Bowl XXLII on Sunday, Feb. 3 (approximately 10:15 ET and west of Ontario at 10 p.m.; visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). The critically-acclaimed drama then moves into its regular Fridays at 10 p.m. ET time-slot beginning Feb. 8.

CTV Series Flashpoint Picked Up by CBS for U.S. Broadcast

Los Angeles, CA (January 29, 2008) - A new CTV original Canadian drama series currently in pre-production has been picked up by CBS for broadcast later this year in the United States. Flashpoint (working title, a.k.a. Sniper) is a new police drama about an elite, big city Strategic Response Unit (SRU). CBS has picked up 13 episodes of the one-hour drama series, which was green-lit by CTV in December. When it premieres later this year, Flashpoint will become the first Canadian series since CTV's Due South in 1994 to air in network primetime in both Canada and the United States. Production begins in Toronto in April.
